Snow Crab Legs Recipe - Comfort Food Meals

As I piled the snow crab legs onto a plate, I couldn’t help but remember the first time I tasted them. It was at a bustling seafood restaurant, the kind where you hear laughter and clinking glasses, and the aroma of the ocean fills the air.

Ingredients

  • ¼ cup unsalted butter
  • ¼ teaspoon smoked paprika
  • 1 garlic clove, finely minced
  • ½ teaspoon lemon zest
  • teaspoon teaspoons crushed dried parsley flakes
  • 1 pound Alaskan Snow Crab legs, fully thawed if frozen
  • teaspoon sea salt
  • ¼ teaspoon coarse ground black pepper

Method

Step 1: Prepare the Butter Mixture
  1. In a small saucepan, melt the butter over low heat. Once melted, mix in the minced garlic, smoked paprika, lemon zest, salt, and pepper. Allow the mixture to simmer for a few minutes while stirring occasionally. The aroma will start to fill your kitchen—absolutely irresistible.
Step 2: Heat Water for Steaming
  1. Fill a large pot with about two inches of water and place a steaming basket inside. Bring the water to a boil. The pot should be big enough to accommodate the crab legs without crowding.
Step 3: Steam the Snow Crab Legs
  1. Once the water is boiling, carefully place the snow crab legs in the steaming basket. Cover the pot with a lid. Steam for about 6-8 minutes. The crab legs are already cooked; you're just reheating them and infusing that fantastic flavor.
Step 4: Serve
  1. Once done, remove the crab legs from the pot. Drizzle the prepared butter mixture over them or serve it on the side as a dipping option.

Notes

Freshness Matters: Always choose fresh or well-frozen crab legs, as the flavor is significantly better.
Don’t Overcook: Just heat the legs. Overcooking leads to rubbery meat.
Pair It Up: Feel free to create side dishes that complement the crab.
Leftovers: If you have any left, they can be stored in the fridge for a day or two.
Experiment with Flavors: Add your favorite herbs or spices to the butter for a unique twist.
